Elizabeth Marie Layeski, nee Kane, age 80, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., born July 27, 1938 in Perth Amboy, N.J., passed away December 15, 2018 at Traditions Medical Center, Port Saint Lucie, Fla.

After Hurricane Sandy destroyed their home in Sayreville, N.J., she relocated to Port Saint Lucie, Fla. with her husband Eugene John Layeski. She was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved her family, taking care of animals, cooking , and decorating for the holidays.  Betty, as she was known to her friends, was a compassionate, generous, and caring person who touched many lives, and her memory will be cherished by those fortunate enough to know her.  She also was the proud grandmother of Emily and Connor Layeski.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Elizabeth, nee Balog, Kane.

Betty is survived by her husband Eugene John Layeski, whom she married September 22, 1962 in South River, New Jersey; her son Eugene David (Sharon) Layeski, of O'Fallon, Ill., her much-loved grandchildren Emily and Connor; and her brother James (Sandra) Kane, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.

Memorial donations are suggested to Spencer Kennel, a local animal shelter, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church O'Fallon chapel (enter at Seven Hills Entrance). Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
