IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elliott Mitchell
Scharringhausen
August 19, 1991 – January 31, 2021
Elliott Mitchell Scharringhausen, age 29, of O'Fallon, born August 19, 1991, the only son of Mark and Crissy Scharringhausen, died January 31, 2021, following a long-time struggle with depression.
Elliott grew up in O'Fallon, and graduated from OTHS Class of 2009. He attended SWIC before earning his Bachelor Degree in Psychology from SIUE. Elliott chose to study psychology, hoping to understand himself and to help others. While in college, he worked for O'Fallon Parks & Recs Dept., developing strong friendships and paving the way to his current career working with the Grounds Crew for the St. Louis Cardinals - a job he greatly loved. To his parents, Elliott was the "best kid in the world." To his longtime girlfriend, Angelina, he was a great partner. To his close friends, he was a dedicated friend, and a loyal sports fanatic, particularly of the Cardinals and the Blues. Elliott's death is an immense loss to his family and friends. Elliott's struggle with depression led him to be an advocate for people with mental health issues.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Louise, nee Carson, Scharringhausen.
Surviving are his parents Mark and Crissy Scharringhausen of O'Fallon; maternal grandparents Michael (Olga) Heller of Port Orange, Fla., Linda Fitch of Pueblo, Colo.; his girlfriend Angelina Dardeen; and their fur baby Arya. Elliott is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial donations are suggested to Karla Smith Behavioral Health , 200 N. Lincoln, O'Fallon, IL 62269 or via Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, IL 62269, in hopes of helping others, and to offer support to survivors of suicide. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.wfh-ofallon.com .
