Elmer O. Bugger, age 63, of Troy, Ill., born September 7, 1954 in Belleville, Ill., died December 23, 2017 at Evelyn's Hospice House, Creve Coeur, Mo., following a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer.
Elmer grew up in O'Fallon. He was an agent for Prudential for many years and had recently retired. His strong work ethic and genuine concern earned him great respect and admiration by his clients.
Elmer was a fan of Cardinals baseball and a local sports enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and supporting his daughters' endeavors by attending all their extra-curricular activities. He valued his family and friendships and taught by example, living honestly and fairly. Most recently, he was privileged to meet and hold his tiny new grandson, Aiden.
Surviving are his wife Patricia A. Bugger, of Troy; daughters Emily (Corey) Hahn of Wildwood, Mo., Allison (Derek) Hamilton of Urbana, Ill., grandson Aiden Hahn; brother Edward (Judy) Bugger of O'Fallon, brothers-in-law Dennis Hollenkamp of Carlyle, Jim (Bonnie) Arentsen, Mike (Deb) Arentsen, Tom (Tammy) Arentsen, all of Trenton, Brian (Melodi) Arentsen of Carlyle; nieces and nephews Marcie, Eric, Joni, Lisa, Kurt, David, Carrie, Maggie, Kyle, Shawn, Cory, Hannah, and Noah.
He was preceded in death by his father Omar Bugger, mother Lorine Bugger Tonnies, nee Niehaus, step-father Paul Tonnies, sisters Luella Hollenkamp and Shirley (Lloyd) Roberson; and parents-in-law Otto and Helen Arentsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition ( www.foster-adopt.org ), Evelyn's House/BJC Hospice ( www.bjchospice.org ) or to St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com .
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, and from 9:30 – 10:30 am, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon.
Funeral: Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding.
