Elmer E. Schobert, 85, of O'Fallon, Ill., born Sept. 30, 1920, in O'Fallon, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at Memorial Convalescent Center, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Schobert was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., and worked as a steelworker for General Steel, Industries, Granite City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Olga, nee Schilling, Schobert; a sister, Hilda Schanherr; and two brothers, George and Albert Schobert.
Elmer is survived by two nieces, Lynn (Richard) Jones of Red Bud, Ill., and Rita Swettenham of Shiloh, Ill.; and a nephew, Robert (Patricia) Meehling of Belleville, Ill.
Memorials may be made in the form of Masses at St. Clare Catholic Church.

Visitation: Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., with the Rev. James Deiters officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
