Obituary

Elsie Mary Brandmeyer, age 93, of O'Fallon, born March 3, 1929, in Shiloh, Ill., passed away Friday morning, February 24, 2023, following a brief illness at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

An avid reader for the last 20 years Elsie read over 1100 books. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, sewing, and working 1000+ piece puzzles. In the 1960s, she was the President of the Central School PTA. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club of O'Fallon, where she played cards and spent time with her friends. She enjoyed travelling and taking day trips with local groups. In her younger years, she and her (late) husband Oscar enjoyed dancing, and together, they operated "Brandmeyer's Fish Stand" adjacent to The Tornado Inn in the late 1950s. Elsie had been self-employed for 30+ years in her own upholstery shop. She was kind and generous, with a Servant's heart while at its best with her family and friends extended many in need.  Elsie was a member St. John's UCC in Summerfield, Ill. When Elsie made a friend, she made a friend for life. She continued to meet regularly with her classmates from grade school.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dan and Ella, nee Cebulske, Eberhardt; her husband Oscar; her daughter-in-law Deborah Brandmeyer; sister Shirley Reid, and brother Roger Eberhardt.

Surviving are her children Edwin (Diana) Brandmeyer of O'Fallon, Joyce (Rev. Gary) Kniepkamp of St. Jacob; grandchildren Benjamin (Sara) Lesire, Andrew Brandmeyer, Joshua (Brianna) Lesire, Melissa (Timothy) Nehrt, Kristen (Latham Thomas) Belcher; great-grandchildren Luke, Audrey, & Caleb Lesire; Claire, Elliott, & Ivy Joy Nehrt; and August & Marigold Belcher.
