Eugene J. Elliott, age 85 of Washington, Mo. born July 14, 1927 in St. Louis, Mo. died December 4th, 2012 in Washington, Mo.
Mr. Elliott moved to O'Fallon, Ill. in 1936, and lived there until January 2011 when he moved to Washington, Mo. to be near relatives. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific. He worked 33 years for the Missouri Pacific /Union Pacific railroad, and after retiring from the railroad worked several years for various barge lines as a shipping manager before completely retiring in 1992.
Mr. Elliott was active in many organizations in the O'Fallon area. He was the first Cubmaster of Cub Pack 46 in O'Fallon. He was a coach for many years in the O'Fallon JayCee youth baseball leagues. He was an active member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus and the Senior Citizens Club of O'Fallon. He was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church and St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Mr. Elliott was a graduate of St. Clare Catholic School in 1941, and O'Fallon Township High School in 1945.
Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his father Russell Elliott and mother Marie (nee Wascho) Elliott; his high-school sweetheart and wife of 67 years Delores (nee Lurtz), an older brother James Elliott and a younger brother Robert Elliott.
Surviving are a daughter Kay Louise (Dale) Clapp of Isabel, Ill., a son Joseph (Virginia) Elliott of Union, Mo., a granddaughter Sarah (David) McCullough of Hixton, Wisc., a great-grandson Aaron Clapp of Arcola, Ill.; a brother John (Elizabeth) Elliott of Wichita Kan., two sisters Theresa Keeney and Connie (Paul) Garrett of O'Fallon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, December 7, 2012, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O'Fallon, Ill. The Sr. Citizens Club of O'Fallon will conduct a walk-through at 6:30 pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
Funeral: Procession will depart the funeral home at 10:45 am, Saturday, December 8, 2012 for a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 A.M. at St. Clare Catholic Church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
