Obituary

Evelyn M. Riebold, nee Ruppel, age 88, of St. Louis, formerly of O'Fallon, Ill., born March 5, 1925 in Lebanon, Ill., passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Riebold was a farmer's wife on land near Lebanon, Ill. and lived there until 1985 when she and her husband moved to O'Fallon. She was a parishioner at St. Clare Catholic Church then at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, both in O'Fallon. Evelyn was active in many organizations over the years as a Cub Scout Den Mother and member of Saddle Club, 4-H, Home Extension, Golden Age, O'Fallon Senior Citizens, United Church of Christ quilting group, and St. Clare/St. Nicholas quilting group. Her life was filled with gardening, sewing, quilting, and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Riebold, son, James Riebold, and parents Matthias and Frieda (nee Hagemann) Ruppel.

Mrs. Riebold is survived by her children Thomas (Barbara) Riebold of Corvallis, Ore., Joseph (Catherine) Riebold of St. Louis, Mo., Brenda (Bruce Koelker) Riebold of Round Rock, Tex., and Kristine (John) Kelley of St. Louis, Mo. Also surviving are daughter-in-law Bridgid Riebold of O'Fallon, Ill., grandchildren Matt (Josie) Riebold; Jane Riebold; Catherine J. (Christopher J.) Neu; Lauren, Leigh-Anne and Lindsay (Sam Loring) Riebold; Jim (Tammy) Hairgrove; Erik Hairgrove; and Heather (Steve Ryan) Blanchard. Great-grandchildren Aaron Hairgrove, Devin Hairgrove, Ryan Blanchard, Cassidy Neu, and Austin Riebold.

Memorial Donations in honor of Mrs. Riebold are suggested to St. Nicholas Church Building Fund or St. Clare Church Building Fund.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday January 16, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.
The family will also receive friends at the church after 9:00 am, Friday, January 17, 2014.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday January 17, 2014 at the church, with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding. Interment will follow at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
