Mr. Everett G. Truttmann, age 88, of O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Friday, November 11, 2005 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.
He was born May 29, 1917 in Belleville, Ill. to Joseph H. and Katherine (nee Scheibel) Truttmann. He married Marie Schmidt on February 11, 1946. He began Truttmann Cabinet Shop in 1946, where he worked as a cabinet maker until he began his work as a Maintenance Superintendent with St. Clair County. He was a member of Gateway Computer Club, Carpenter's Union and St. Clare Catholic Church, where he volunteered in various ways for many years. He enjoyed music, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren, who found him to be a great storyteller.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Joseph Truttmann and sister Dorothy Petrekovic.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marie of O'Fallon, three sons, Everett (Mary) Truttmann, of Bloomington, Ill.; David (Beverly) Truttmann of Bellevue, Neb., and John (Teresa) Truttmann of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and one daughter, Mary Ann (Steve) Wells of O'Fallon. He is also survived by grandchildren Karen (Robert) VanPlew, Brian (Allison) Truttmann, Laura (Brian) Herzog, Kevin Truttmann, Bryan Truttmann, and Melissa (friend, Mr. Jessie Hammer) Wells, and two great grandchildren, Lauren and Michael VanPlew.
Memorial Donations may be made to American Heart Association or St. Clare Catholic Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
Funeral Procession will depart Wolfersberger Funeral Home 9:45 AM, Monday, November 14 for St Clare Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, with Father Jim Deiters presiding.
Interment: Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
