Fern May Kombrink, nee Monroe, age 93, of O'Fallon, born May 12, 1918, passed away February 9, 2012 after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kombrink enjoyed flower gardening, embroidery, quilting and dancing. She treasured her extensive collections of bells and dolls. She was Past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 487, Past Worthy High Priestess of Order of the White Shrine Highland Chapter, and Past Worthy Matron of Order of the Amaranth Bethalto Chapter. Above all else, her family came first in all things.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert J. Kombrink, who passed away January 28, 1999; her parents, George E. Monroe and Lillie B. May Monroe; her daughter Birtty Andrews, and two grandsons, Marvin and David Wobbe.
Surviving are her children Donna (Marvin) Wobbe of New Bloomfield, Mo., Leonard (Joy) Andrews of O'Fallon, Fern (Ed) Keller, and Michael Andrews of O'Fallon; brothers William (Nancy) Monroe of Lebanon, and Bernard Monroe of Herrin.; six grandchildren, Jason, Robert, George, and Leonard Andrews; Alicia Singh and Catherine Mendoza; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2012, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon. OES will conduct a service at 6:30 pm.
Service: 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Donald C. Wagner officiating. Burial at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
