Frances Gieneles, age 84, formerly of O'Fallon, Ill., born August 17, 1932 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 in Mascoutah, Ill.
Frances was a generous lady and was hardly ever without a gift for her friends and family. She lived in Washington, D.C. for many years and was employed by a law firm as a secretary. She loved her dogs and cats, was a member of O'Fallon Woman's Club Inc., and volunteered at PSOP – a program at Southwestern Illinois College that provides support, resources, and activities for senior citizens.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Anna, nee Maliongas, Gieneles.
Surviving are her sister Harriet (Charles) Baker of O'Fallon, Ill.; nieces and nephews Dr. Elaine (John Vlahek) Doias, Tina (Dave Hagelstein) Doias, Joanna (Richard) McMahon, Steve (Jan) Baker, John (Joanne) Baker, and Janet (Pete) Newcomb; and great-nieces, great-nephews and godchildren.
Memorial donations in her memory are suggested to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted by the funeral home.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 405 Huntwood Rd., Swansea, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the church, with Rev. Achilles Karathanos, presiding. Burial will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
