Obituary
MSgt. Francisco "Frank" Sandoval, US Air Force retired, age 71, of O'Fallon, born September 2, 1943 in Saginaw, Mich., died Sunday, April 12, 2015 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Sandoval was a 26-year veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring in 1986 at Scott AFB, Ill. Much of his military career was spent working with aircraft as a Fuels Supervisor. He later was a medical flight technician, flying Aeromedical Evacuation. After his retirement, he supported his wife's military career until her retirement in 2004, when they returned to Scott AFB, and settled in O'Fallon.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where he and his wife have been active with Yesterday's Kids. He was a member of American Legion Post 137 and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Augustine, Sr., and Devorsia, nee Toledo, Sandoval; his six brothers and one sister Augustine Sandoval, John Sandoval, Larry Sandoval, Mary Hernandez, Andrew Sandoval, Louis Sandoval and Frederick Sandoval.
He is survived by his wife, Colonel Edith "Edie" Sandoval, US Air Force (retired) of O'Fallon, his children Teresa Nicole "Nikie" Sandoval of O'Fallon, Jennifer Dawn (Nicholas) Minter of Newport News, Va., Debby Anderson, Christina Sandoval, Robert "Bobby" (Laura) Sandoval; five grandchildren; and five sisters Anita Huerta, Patricia Rowe, Margaret Sandoval, Connie Hernandez, and Socorro Garibay.
Memorial donations are suggested to Saint Nicholas Catholic Church or to American Legion Post 137.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Illinois, and from 8:30 – 9:15 am, Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon. The Illinois Patriot Guard will make a presentation to the family at 9:00 am, Friday, at the church, followed by a walk-through by Yesterday's Kids.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am, Friday, April 17, 2015, at the church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Mo.
