Frank Apostol, Jr., age 86, of Belleville, Ill., born July 11, 1931 in Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on June 12, 2018 at his home in Belleville.

Frank was one of four children of Frank and Maude, nee Keene, Apostol, Sr. He grew up in Du Quoin, and moved with his family to East St. Louis as a teenager, and graduated from East St. Louis High School where he played football. He earned his business degree from University of Illinois, and was considered to be a health, fitness, and nutrition enthusiast.

Frank served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a real estate broker, a substitute teacher at various metro-east high schools, and taught at surrounding colleges. For the past several years, Frank volunteered at VFW Post 805 in O'Fallon, where he also worked as a bartender. It was at the Post where Frank felt most at home, surrounded by his friends and comrades, many of whom had become "like family."

Memorial donations will be accepted at the funeral home, are suggested to the VFW Post 805 to support their veterans' causes.

Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon.

Funeral:  6:30 pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the funeral home, led by the VFW Post 805.

Procession will depart the funeral home at 9:45 am, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 for Service with military honors  at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
