Gary Robert Bain, age 71, of Belleville, Ill., born March 19, 1947 in Pocatello, Idaho, passed away Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at his home.

The youngest of three children to Clifford and Lois, nee Dorman, Bain, Gary grew up and graduated high school in Pocatello, Idaho. He earned his BS in Psychology from Idaho State University where he attended on a baseball scholarship; after graduation he played semi-pro baseball for a short time.  He received his MS in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1974.  He served several years in the US Air Force as a pilot in the C-141 and C-21, and was employed for over 20 years as a corporate pilot with HBE Corporation, retiring in 2016.  Gary enjoyed biking, hiking, and traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Bain, and his sister Anita Fisher.

Surviving are his wife Charlotte, nee Anderson, Bain, whom he married October 12, 1974; his sons Jason (Allison) of Vail, Ariz., and Jeremy (Heather) of O'Fallon, three grandchildren Ashley, Henrik, and Mira, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be conducted by the family at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at O'Fallon First United Methodist Church, 504 East Highway 50, O'Fallon, Illinois, with Pastor Don Long officiating.
