Gary Don Heien, Jr., 49, of O'Fallon, Ill., born January 2, 1963 in Belleville, Illinois, to Gary and Frances, nee Armstrong, Heien, died Sunday morning, April 29, 2012.
Gary grew up in O'Fallon, graduating from OTHS Class of 1981. He was President and CEO of Ford Tool Steel, Inc., in St. Louis, assuming the leadership role from his father.
He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, and he enjoyed hunting duck and other waterfowl. Gary was a former Rotarian and current member of Ducks Unlimited.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary Don Heien, Sr., his maternal grandparents Frank and Gertrude Armstrong; and paternal grandparents, Maurice and Lucille Heien.
Surviving are his mother, Frances M. Heien, of O'Fallon; his children Trevor, Gavin and Jordan Dumstorff-Heien, of O'Fallon; his sister Susan (Steven) Gasser, niece Jillian and nephew Luke, of Sparta, Ill.; and former wife, Ellen Heien, of O'Fallon.
Memorial donations are suggested to Smile Train (an organization providing cleft surgery to poor children in developing countries); or to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon and after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the funeral home, with Pete Joergensen officiating.
