Genevieve Eloise Cavins, nee Beckman, age 100, lifelong resident of O'Fallon, born March 16, 1913 in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Sunday morning, September 22, 2013.
Growing up in O'Fallon and living in the same home since she was fourteen years old, Gen worked several years as a seamstress at a dress and shirt factory. She and her parents restored a landmark building in downtown O'Fallon, where they owned and operated the Bus Stop Café. She and her husband "Katy" owned a bus line that provided both commercial and school transportation throughout central and southern Illinois.
During retirement, Gen enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and her many pets on their farmland northeast of town. She was always a hard worker, dedicated, along with her husband, to the community of O'Fallon. Her friends and family appreciated her sense of humor.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Loyed B. "Katy" Cavins, whom she married July 22, 1937, and who passed away August 28, 1991; and her parents Charles and Pearl, nee Miller, Beckman, who were both natives of O'Fallon.
Surviving are her family members and friends who loved her and enjoyed her company throughout the years.
Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
