George "Jerry" Shaw, age 83, born to Theodore "Teddy" and Georgia Shaw on March 27,1934 in East St. Louis, passed away March 7, 2018 with his family by his side.

George "Jerry" was a hard worker. He worked for 30 years at American Steel Foundry in Granite City as an inspector. After the plant closed, he worked for 15 years for Schnucks in Cahokia in maintenance, never missing a day of work in those 15 years. He was a great sports fan, especially of the Cardinals, basketball, and football. Jerry enjoyed walks, sitting outside in the sun, feeding the birds, and watching John Hagee Ministry. He also loved to draw and admired Norman Rockwell paintings; he was quite a good artist himself. Jerry loved the Lord and talked about life after death and going to Heaven. He was very interested in endtime events. He now rests in the peace of God.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Beverly and Dorothy, son  George Jr., brother Paul, and grandchildren Charles and Angel.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years Murlene; their children Jared (Tali) Shaw of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., Nicole (Marcus) Gould of Glen Carbon, Ill., and David (Amy) Shaw of O'Fallon, Ill.; and sister-in-law Earline Shaw of East St. Louis; his children from previous marriages Gary (Eula) of Minneapolis, Minn., Karen of Newport News, Va., Patrice of Belleville, Terri of East St. Louis, Jerry (Macy) of Cahokia, Ill., and Greta of California. He also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Foundation.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.

Funeral: 10 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. John Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
