Obituary

Katherine Geraldine "Gerry" Kloustermeyer (nee Hemmer), age 93, died September 20, 2007 at Covenant Care of O'Fallon, Ill. Gerry was born October 4, 1913 in O'Fallon, Illinois to Edward R. and Mary Frances (nee O'Neill) Hemmer. In her youth, she relocated often due to her father's work as a coalminer. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1929 at the age of 15. She returned to O'Fallon in 1947, and married Charles Fields Kloustermeyer in 1950. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1976.

Gerry was very active in community and church organizations. She was a longtime, faithful member of St. Clare Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Sodality and St. Clare School Mothers Club. She was a member of O'Fallon Woman's Club, O'Fallon Historical Society and Business & Professional Women. Gerry was an original employee for the Bank of O'Fallon, founded in 1959. She was Vice President and Trust Officer and belonged to many area professional banking organizations. Gerry is listed in the O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce Gallery of Honor, as she was named a Business Person of the Year in 1985.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Robert Schumacher, Gene Hemmer, and Mike Hemmer; and sister Regina Koch.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Gilbert) Vollmer, of O'Fallon; two sons, James Richard "Rick" (Kathy) Davis of St. Charles, Mo.; Edward F. (Donna) Kloustermeyer of O'Fallon; grandchildren Debbie (Greg) Edwards, Julie (Eric) Hahn, Jeffrey (Rachel) Vollmer, Beth (Jim) Ferry, Jamie (Stephanie) Davis, Matthew (Abby) Davis, Brian Kloustermeyer and Bradley Kloustermeyer; great-grandchildren, John & Sam Edwards, Sara, Emily & Alexander Hahn, Maya, Quinn, Henry, & Tess Vollmer; Josh & Ellen Binnion, and Jessica, Natalie, & Elena Davis. Gerry is also survived by her sister, Mary "Peggy" Berens of O'Fallon and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In honor of Mrs. Kloustermeyer, Memorial Donations are suggested to either St Clare Catholic Church Choir Chair fund or American Diabetes Association.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007, Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill and after 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at St Clare Catholic Church, with Reverend James Deiters presiding.

Burial: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill., along side her husband.
