Obituary

Glenn Howard, age 89, of Swansea, Ill., former long-time resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, born March 28, 1934 to Bob and Mossie, nee Collins, Howard, passed away Saturday morning, September 30, 2023 at home at Bradford Place, Swansea, Ill.

Glenn was born and raised in Gray, Ky. with his siblings Herman, Jeanette, Mary Lou and Bobbi Ann. He enlisted in the Navy, with permission from his mother, at the young age of 17, in 1951. He served aboard the USS Norton, USS Taussig, USS Valley Forge, and USS Pittsburg until his discharge in 1958. After his military service, he began his long career as an independent over-the-road truck driver based in Cincinnati. He delivered goods across the entire contiguous United States, joined the Million Mile Club, and retired at age 70.  Glenn was a hard worker and took great pride in providing for his family. Glenn married his former High School classmate Joyce Hurley, on December 31, 1966 in Cincinnati.

In addition to his wife Joyce, he is also survived by his children Bill (Lori) Howard of Shiloh, Ill., Sharon Howard, Gene Howard, Bobby Howard, Sam Howard, and Shelly Howard; many grandchildren, including Glenn (Shannon) Howard, Wayne (Kaitlin) Howard, Amy Howard, and Emma Howard; and many great-grandchildren including Jacob, Lauren, Carter, Molly, and Carson.

Visitation: 5-7 pm, Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Procession will depart the funeral home at 8:45 am, Monday, October 9, 2023 for Graveside Service with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
