Gordon Lee Escher, 65, born January 5, 1956 in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Leroy A. Escher and Martha Lou, nee Pollard, Escher, died December 5, 2021 at his home in Belleville, Ill.
Gordon grew up in O'Fallon, graduating from O'Fallon Township High School. Gordon worked out of Belleville Union Local 459 as a Laborer for many years. He would go to as many games as he could or would watch the game on television; he never missed a game. He had many Cardinals collectibles and could cite much history about the team. Gordon was a member of South Side Belleville, and he worked and volunteered there for many years. Gordon attended many Grizzlies baseball games over the years as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Martha; sister Louise Bowen; brother-in-law Ralph Bowen; nephew David Earl Bowen.
Survivors include his sisters Nancy L. Escher, Wanda (Bill) Escher; brother Christopher Harlan Steele; uncles McKinley (Sharon) Pollard, Delbert Escher; nieces and nephews Carla (Charles) Bowen, Debra (Jim) Jerimiah, William Bowen, Amelia (Dale) VerSteegt, Elizabeth (Bryant) VerSteegt, and Stacey (Richie) Fox; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
