Obituary

Harry E. 'Butch' Vink, 79, of Lebanon, Ill., passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024. Harry was born January 26, 1945 to Virgil and Eileen (nee O'Meara) Vink in Bay City, Mich.

He graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in 1963 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the US Air Force. He loved sharing stories of his world travels, adventures, and experiences working on Blackhawks and Hueys. After his tour of duty with an honorable discharge, Harry returned home and chose to enlist in the Army Reserves and continued to work and further develop his knowledge in the field of avionics. After retirement from civil service, he worked in maintenance at the Scottish Rite Temple and later at Ace Hardware.

Harry was an active member of the A.F.& A.M. Lodge 576 and the Ainad Shriner's Brass Band. He was a former member of the Shriner's Drum and Bugle Corps.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Eileen Vink.

Surviving are his loving wife Rosemary (nee Fohne) Vink whom he married on July 23, 1988; sister Gil (Roger) Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law Gloria (Russ) Arentsen of Lebanon, Ill.; nieces Stacey (Joe) Dean of Savannah, Ga., Erika Cisan of Las Vegas, Nev., Kristen (Justin) Steele of Lebanon, Ill., and Michelle (Josh) Jones of Lebanon, Ill.; great-niece Cora Cisan; and great-nephews Joseph Dean IV, Drake Dean, Zane Dean, Colby Cisan, and Owen Steele.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 pm, Tuesday March 5, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O'Fallon, Ill. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 pm, to be followed by a walk-though conducted by the Ainad Temple Brass Band. A visitation will also begin at 10:00 am, Wednesday, at the church.

Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill., with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. A burial with military honors will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
