Hazel J. Sutton, age 95, of O'Fallon, Ill., formerly of St. Louis, born April 17, 1927 on the family farm near small-town Brunot, Mo., passed away peacefully at her home on April 9, 2023.
Hazel married her sweetheart Donald at a young age, just before he was shipped overseas during World War II. She moved to St. Louis and began working as a bookkeeper for GAF Roofing, and later retired from Stieferman Bros. Van & Storage Co. She attended Riverview Gardens Baptist Church before moving to O'Fallon in 2015 to be closer to her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Jackson Sutton in 1997; her parents Floyd Samuel and Doris, nee Harrison, Clifton; and her brother Floyd Earl (Jean) Clifton.
She is survived by her daughter Nila Grogan and son-in-law David Heisel, of O'Fallon; nieces and nephews Diane (Mike) O'Bannon, David (Becky) Clifton, Dale (Deanna) Clifton, Donna (Jack) Gardner, Darin (Rene) Clifton, and Dana (Pat) Clark.

Visitation: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023 (Hazel's Birthday), at Wolfersberger Funeral Home , 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral: Noon, Monday, April 17, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom McCurdy officiating. Graveside Service will be at 1:45 p.m., Monday, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 1215 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, Mo.
