Helen E. Murphy, nee Bindics, age 95, formerly of O'Fallon, Ill., born November 7, 1920 in Northampton, Penn., passed away December 8, 2015 at Cedarhurst of Shiloh.
Mrs. Murphy was a longtime faithful parishioner at St. Clare Catholic Church. She had previously worked as a tax preparer at H&R Block. Helen enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She and her husband "Murph" travelled often during their retirement years, especially enjoying their visits to Ireland, Rome, and Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Murphy, whom she married January 2, 1943, and who died October 14, 2006; her daughter Charleen Vernier, parents Stephen and Karoline, nee Kovacs, Bindics, and her brothers Charles, Istvan, and Geza Bindics.
Surviving are her son Charles (Sharon) Murphy of Belleville, son-in-law Kevin (fiancee Lori Key) Vernier, of Shiloh, and grandson Justin Vernier. Special thanks to the staff at Cedarhurst of Shiloh who always treated Helen just like family.
Memorials are suggested to St. Clare Catholic Church.
Visitation: Friends may call from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday, December 14, 2015 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross St., Shiloh.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 14, 2015, at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
