Herman Lee "Cy" Cypert, age 80, of Greenville, IL, born April 1, 1943 in Stockton, CA, passed away peacefully at his home, June 26, 2023.

Cy grew up in CA, where he was a stand-out athlete at James Lick High School in San Jose. He was an all-star record-setter on the track team and played varsity football and baseball. He was a veteran of both the United States Air Force and Army, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He ultimately retired from the Army in 1983 as a finance specialist.

After his Army retirement, he worked for the IRS for a short time, then with Defense Finance & Accounting. Cy had a strong interest in collecting cars, especially muscle cars. He was always generous to share and show appreciation and was often heard to say, "I've been blessed." Cy was an ever-present father, and his children are grateful for the fatherly wisdom they received over the years.

Cy was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Idabelle, nee McCullum, Cypert; and his parents-in-law Calvin and Betty Crossno.

Survivors include his beloved wife Susan, nee Crossno, Cypert of Greenville; children Allen (Carrie) Cypert of St. Clair, MI, Bill Cypert of Denver, CO, and Callie (Mike) Williams of Greenville, grandchildren Joshua (Eugenia) Cypert, Zachary Cypert, Jacob Cypert, Elias Cypert, Courtney Lyons, Jonathan Cypert, Maxwell Cypert, Emma Veith, Allie Veith, Vilmos Cypert, Orsolya Cypert, and Kristof Cypert; brother Elton Ray Cypert; sister-in-law Diane (William) Bates; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 9 am – noon, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Crossview Church, 915 E. Highway 50, O'Fallon, IL, with service to begin at noon, with Rev. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, IL.
