Idamay Pfeiffer, nee Turner, age 92, of O'Fallon, born August 15, 1924 in East St. Louis, Ill., to Ozza and Malinda (nee Schlenk) Turner, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was a long-time volunteer of Catholic Urban Programs. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church where she was a lifetime member of the St. Ann's Altar Sodality. She was a homemaker and loving wife and mother of six children who returned that love, care, and respect to her.
Mrs. Pfeiffer was preceded in death by her wonderful husband L. Edward Pfeiffer whom she married June 24, 1947 at St. Elizabeth Church in East St. Louis; her beautiful daughter Margaret, sisters-in-law Myrtle Beuckman and Thelma Moore, brothers-in-law Florian Beuckman, Aubrey "Bob" Moore, Charles Pfeiffer; nephew Michael Moore; half-brother George Turner and half-sister Ruby Sample and her dear Uncle Leslie "Les" Schlenk.
Surviving are her daughter Linda (James) Macke of Swansea; sons James Pfeiffer of Granite City, Paul Pfeiffer of O'Fallon, John (Nancy) Pfeiffer of Belleville, and William Pfeiffer of O'Fallon. Also surviving are sister-in-law Doris Pfeiffer of Belleville and cousin Leslie Hawksbee of Alameda, Calif.; six grandchildren: Brian Macke of Dallas, Tex., Jared Macke of St. Louis, Eric (Jenna) Macke of Belleville, Laura Macke of Swansea, Edward (Cassidae) Pfeiffer of St. Louis, and Elizabeth (Matt Morris) Pfeiffer of Belleville; four great-granddaughters Zoe', Morgan, and Olivia Pfeiffer and Ava Morris; great-grandson Eli Macke; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Memorial donations are requested to Catholic Urban Programs or St. Clare Catholic Church.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, and from 9:00 – 9:45 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 1411 Cross St., Shiloh.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the church with Rev. Clyde Grogan presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
