Irene A. Lickenbrock, nee Muckensturm, age 86, of O'Fallon, born June 18, 1925 in Belleville, Ill., passed away July 12, 2011.
Mrs. Lickenbrock was a long-time parishioner at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church and member of the Altar Sodality. During World War II, she worked at a foundry inspecting piston rings, before devoting her life to raising her sons and supporting the family business. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna, nee Mathes, Muckensturm; and her siblings, Aloys, Isidor, and Julius.
Surviving are her husband, Leo W. Lickenbrock, of O'Fallon, whom she married September 21, 1943 in Belleville, Ill., her three sons, James (Linda) Lickenbrock of Mascoutah, Gary (Mary) Lickenbrock of O'Fallon, and Craig (Nancy) Lickenbrock of O'Fallon. Also surviving are grandchildren, Carolyn (Wayne) Haas of Mascoutah, Susan Lickenbrock of O'Fallon, Matthew (Ashley) Lickenbrock of Afton, Mo., David (Lauren) Lickenbrock of Chicago, Ill., Robby Lickenbrock of O'Fallon, and Michael Lickenbrock of O'Fallon; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Haas, Jacob and Madeline Lickenbrock.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or in the form of Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon and from 9:00 – 10:00 am, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the church. The O'Fallon Senior Citizens Club will conduct a walk-through at 6:00 pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
