IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline M.
Toles
February 27, 1948 – December 8, 2021
Jacqueline Marie Toles, nee Britto, age 73, of O'Fallon, born February 27, 1948 in New Bedford, Mass., passed away Wednesday morning, December 8, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
The oldest of eleven children of Francis and Gladys Britto, Jackie grew up in New Bedford, Mass., where she attended New Bedford Vocational High School, graduating in 1965.
Jackie had a long, diversified, and distinguished career as a Department of Defense Civilian working for the US Air Force. She was a telephone operator in Guam where she was the Head Telephone Operator during the fall of Vietnam. She also worked in many positions at Scott AFB including the Passenger Reservation Center where she made international airlift reservations for military members and their families. She later planned and scheduled commercial charter flights and became the functional manager of the Passenger Reservation and Manifesting System (PRAMS). Jackie earned many promotions along the way and ended her career in the Air Mobility Command's Cargo Branch formulating worldwide airlift policy for the command and the Department of Defense. Over the years Jackie affected the movement of millions of passengers and millions of tons of cargo. She was simply revered by her co-workers and supervisors alike. After 33 years, her career culminated in a well-deserved retirement.
Jackie was an active member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in O'Fallon. She often gave selflessly to support other in needs, supporting causes such as abused women's shelters, cancer research, children in need in other nations, and many friends and families in need.
Jackie had a true love for cooking and enjoying good food, especially jamoca almond fudge ice cream. She was a gifted seamstress, often making custom clothing for herself and her family. A family favorite memory is the matching Tweety Bird and Sylvester Halloween costumes she made for her sons. Jackie enjoyed travelling and loved listening to Motown and oldies music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jonathon Britto and Edward Britto.
She is survived by her husband Roscoe "Rock" Toles, whom she married January 18, 1969; her sons Stephen Toles and Matthew Toles; her siblings Geraldine Batista-Schulterbrandt, Everett Britto, Jeffrey Britto, Katherine Adams, Jennifer Britto, Jessica Britto, Melanie Marcotte, and Francesca Bergatim; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
