Obituary

James John Hohrein, age 67, of O'Fallon, born July 22, 1946 to John and Henrietta, nee Bugger, Hohrein, passed away July 14, 2014.

Jim spent his early childhood in Blackjack, Ill., and later moved to Washington Park and graduated from Assumption Catholic High School in 1964. He worked for General Motors for 39 years and was an active member at St. Nicholas Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4239. A hard-working dad, Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed being outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister in infancy.

Surviving are his wife, Kitty, nee Buckley, Hohrein, whom he married November 5, 1971; daughters Lisa (Jonathan) Harley of O'Fallon, Denise (Jonathan Kirsch) Buckley of Chicago, and Julie (Daniel) Watkins of Kansas, Okla; his dad Charles (Ann Lund-DeMond) DeMond; grandchildren Amanda and Caitlin Harley (and one on the way); brother Rocky (Nancy) DeMond of East Carondelet, Ill., niece Aubrey (Derek) Parker; and brother-in-law James Buckley.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, and after 9:00 am, Friday, July 18, 2014 at the church. Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk-through at 9:15 am, on Friday, at the church.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, July 18, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh.
