James David Pfeifer, age 81, of O'Fallon, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Pfeifer grew up in O'Fallon, the only child of George and Hazel, nee McFarland, Pfeifer. He graduated from OTHS Class of 1946 then attended night business classes at St. Louis University. He worked for Quality Dairy in O'Fallon for 22 years before beginning his career with H & R Block, where he ultimately retired as district manager from the St. Louis office. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. He and his wife recently moved back to O'Fallon after spending their retirement years in Green Valley, Arizona.

Surviving are his wife, Nina Lee, nee Remelius, Pfeifer, his high school sweetheart, whom he married November 27, 1947 in O'Fallon, his daughters Kathi (Bill) Watkins of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Barbara (Ron) George of O'Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren, Tom George and his fiancee' Shawn Geppert and her children Hannah and Payten of Troy, Ill., Michael George and his wife, Melissa and their children Grace and Ella of Troy, Ill., James Watkins and his wife, Caitlan of Seattle, Wash., and JoDee Lynch and her husband Damien of Keller, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of James Pfeifer to the American Lung Association.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, with Rev. Walter Gerth, officiating.
