James L. Sheraikis, age 75, formerly of O'Fallon, born April 19, 1944 in Belleville, died September 26, 2019 in San Diego, California.

Jim grew up in O'Fallon and attended O'Fallon schools. He joined the US Marine Corps at the age of 19 and served honorably as a Radio Technician during the Vietnam War, specializing in Combat Communications. Upon his discharge from the Marines, he began a career in real estate in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Adele, nee Helfrich, Sheraikis, his uncle Clem Helfrich, and sister Mary J. Powell.

Surviving are his brother-in-law John Powell, niece Amy (Joe) Powell; great-nephews Benjamin, Jacob, and Zachary, all of New Baden, Ill.; and cousins Joan Bengtson of Woodbury, Conn.;  Peter Bengtson of Iwakuni, Japan; Kurt and Connor Bengtson of Thomaston, Conn.; Gretta, Mark, and Alex Desena of Watertown, Conn.; and Britta Bengtson of Derby, Conn.

Graveside Service, with military honors, will be 2 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Illinois.
