Obituary

James Lee Strayhorn, Jr., age 68, of Lebanon, Ill., born August 19, 1947 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away December 16, 2015 at his home.

Jim grew up in E. St. Louis, attended St. Philip Grade School, Assumption Catholic High School, and graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1966. He soon enlisted in the Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam as a C-133B aircraft mechanic. He later attended Barber college, and was also a well-known bartender at various restaurants throughout St. Louis, but his true passion and gifts were best expressed in his artistic style as owner and designer at Faboo Floral and Gift Shop in St. Louis. Jim most recently worked as a Paint Specialist at Lowe's. Jim was an avid cyclist; he will be missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy E., nee Schlattweiler, Strayhorn; brother Steven Strayhorn, and his grandparents Elizabeth Schlattweiler, and Frank and Ester Strayhorn.

Surviving are his father J. Lee Strayhorn; his sister Judith A. Lemansky, both of Lebanon; nieces and nephews James L. (Erika) Lemansky, Jr., of Fairview Heights, Lisa (Michael) Mojzis of Fairview Heights, Kelly (James) Kirk of Manchester, Mo., and Matthew A. (girlfriend Heather) Strayhorn of Columbia, Ill; his sister-in-law Diney Strayhorn of Belleville, brother-in-law James L. Lemansky, Sr., of O'Fallon; great niece and great nephews Max and Lillie Kirk, David, Carl, and Michael Lemansky, and Henry Mojzis.

Memorial donations are suggested to support the St. Clare Catholic Church Capital Development Campaign.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon.
