James J. Wellinghoff, age 78, of O'Fallon, Ill., born July 4, 1932, passed away April 7, 2011.

Mr. Wellinghoff worked in finance and owned Wellinghoff Landscape Services. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and Yesterday's Kids. Mr. Wellinghoff was also Past President of O'Fallon Rotary, O'Fallon Savings & Loan, O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce, Southern Illinois Savings & Loan Institute, and Past Chairman of O'Fallon March of Dimes and St. Clair County Red Cross. He was Past Vice President of Bank of O'Fallon and Past Jury Commissioner of St. Clair County. Mr. Wellinghoff served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Amanda (nee Grandcolas) Wellinghoff and a brother William Wellinghoff.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan (nee Prosser) Wellinghoff of O'Fallon; son, Joseph (Patti) Wellinghoff of Smithton, Ill.; daughters, Kimberly Wellinghoff of O'Fallon; and Lisa (Tony) Green of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren Amber and Alex Wellinghoff, Gabe Schneider, Colten Green and Blake Wellinghoff; great-grandson, Carson Schneider; sisters Janis (Gene) Schneider, of O'Fallon, Mo; Judi (Tim) McMinn of Belleville and Joan Acker of Belleville.

Memorials in honor of Mr. Wellinghoff are requested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.

Visitation: Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 and 9:00 – 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon.


Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk-through and service at 9:00 am, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the funeral home.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
