Jane Frances M. Rutter, age 87, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born May 30, 1933 in St. Libory, Ill., to Joseph A. and Elizabeth, nee Sommer, Rutter, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2020 at The Esquiline Community, Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, Illinois.

Jane grew up in St. Libory, and graduated from Belleville's Notre Dame High School in 1950. For many years, she worked as a legal assistant for private practice attorneys. She owned and managed several racehorses, and travelled the country as a horseracing fan. Jane was a faithful member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and had volunteered as a tax preparer for PSOP.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Gertrude Rutter in 1957; and Dorothy M. Roesel in 2018.

Surviving are her brother Joseph G. (Franca) Rutter of Huntsville., Ala., and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 9:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross St., Shiloh.

Funeral: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding.

Interment of cremated remains will be at 1:30 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at St. Liborius Cemetery, St. Libory, Ill., under the direction of Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon.
