IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice
Haydon
February 15, 1937 – May 16, 2024
Janice Fayelene Haydon, 87, died on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at her home. Mrs. Haydon was born on February 15,1937 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. as the only child to Theodore Daniel Hanson and Lena Louise (Frieden) Hanson Meyer. Janice graduated from Quincy Senior High School in June 1955. She married Jack Bruce Haydon at Grace Methodist Church in Quincy, Ill. on September 7, 1957 and they celebrated a love story marriage for 62 years. Janice and Jack adopted their two surviving children, Karen and Roger. She was fiercely devoted to her grandchildren, Shelby and Lane. They lived in O'Fallon, Ill. for 33 years and relocated to Fairview Heights, Ill. in 2009.
Janice's dream was to become a homemaker and a mother, and she did so with relish, lavishing love and attention on her husband, children, friends and community. She was a wonderful cook and beautiful entertainer. Janice was dignified and elegant but she got a sparkle in her eye when she was about to win at Mexican Train. Janice and her family shared many happy evenings at the family card table playing games. Janice treasured her friendships and was so grateful to have a close group of friends to share life's ups and downs. In quiet moments, she always had a book in her hand. Janice was also an active member and leader of PEO, in Chapter KC since 1978, and as the founding president of Chapter NR, remaining faithful and active for 46 years. She was a devoted member of St. Matthew Church in Belleville, Ill. Janice's faith was important to her, and she read her bible, upon rising, every morning. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Daniel Hanson and Lena Louise (Frieden) Hanson Meyer; and her husband Jack Bruce Haydon.
Surviving are her daughter Karen C. (Jay) Pemberton of Palmyra, Mo., son Roger N. Haydon of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter Shelby J. Hammond of Austin, Texas and grandson Lane J. Hammond of Nashville, Tenn. Also surviving are three nieces Pamela Jaworowski, Carole Sand, and Carolyn Windsor; and three nephews Bryce Engelhart, Robert Engelhart, and Kinneth Haydon.
