Dina "Jean" Harrington, age 85, of The Fountains of Shiloh, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 at Cedar Ridge Health Care Center in Lebanon, Illinois. Born February 13, 1922 in Fort Niagara, New York to Charles O. and Isabelle (nee Colter) Purdy, she married James B. Harrington, Jr.
She had taught kindergarten in her early years. Jean was a talented and avid seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed travelling and was always supportive of her husband's military career. Upon his retirement from the Army, they moved to Amherst, Massachusetts where they resided for over 20 years. Jean moved to Illinois about four years ago, after spending 20 years in Sun Lakes, Arizona with her husband. Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends at The Fountains of Shiloh. Jean had a delightful spirit, which was always accompanied by her never-ceasing smile and beautiful laugh. She had a special twinkle in her eye that will be fondly remembered by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt Col James B. Harrington, Jr., US Army, (retired) on March 14, 2006; her parents, and her sister Margaret Rhine.
She is survived by one daughter, Dinah Williams and her husband, Paul (Colonel, USAF, retired) of O'Fallon; her granddaughter Lisa Williams; Brother-in-law Benjamin D. Harrington of Amherst, Mass.; nephews, John Harrington of Amherst, Mass., Ben (Karen) Harrington of Bath, NH, and James D. Harrington of Winthrop, Maine.

Funeral Service: Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 16, 2007, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel, St. Louis, MO.
Burial of cremated remains will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, along side her husband.
