Jerry David Kappert, age 71, of O'Fallon, born January 23, 1947 in Evansville, Ind., died August 20, 2018 in St. Louis, Mo.

Jerry had retired from National Hardgoods Distributors in New England as Vice President of Operations and Personnel, where he had worked for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he was trained as an airframe repairman. Jerry had been a member at Victory Church in O'Fallon. He enjoyed retirement and spent his time fishing, and as he said, "wasted 20 % of his time baiting Becky's hook."

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Sula, nee Hood, Kappert, brothers William Kappert and Robert Kappert, and sisters Helen Murray and Elizabeth Meade.

Memorial donations are suggested to either Victory Church or Randy's Rescue Ranch and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years Rebecca, nee Miller, Kappert, whom he married March 4, 1978 in Peoria, Ill.; his daughter Lisa (Mike) Schnautz, son David (Paulo) Kappert, brothers Donald (Loretta) Kappert and John Kappert, Jr., grandson David (Alyssa) Schnautz, granddaughter Courtney (Landry) Schmitz, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: 4:30 pm, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Jon Cannon officiating. Army honors will follow.
