Obituary

Joan Ida Acker, nee Lambert, age 86, resident of Shiloh, Ill., passed away Friday morning, April 2, 2021.

Joan grew up in Shiloh, but left at an early age and lived in many states from coast to coast. She was a military spouse early in her marriage to Norman R. Acker, former Mayor of Shiloh who lovingly referred to Joan as ''First Lady." After living away from Shiloh for several years, they returned 'home' and have been residents for the past 48 years. Joan was a dedicated employee of First National Bank, which later became First Bank, and was the manager of the Shiloh Branch when it opened the facility at Main and Cross Streets in Shiloh. She was the always friendly and smiling face to all her customers whom she greeted by name. Joan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to her seven grandchildren, and great-grandmother to her thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman R. Acker, her sister JoAnn Hartman, and her parents William and Doris Lambert.

Surviving are her sons Bradley Acker of New Baden, William (Cheryl) Acker of Shiloh, daughter Monique (David) Seipp of Hillsboro, Mo., her sister Christy Heath of Texas, and nieces: Wendy (Steve) Bione and Dawn (Carl) Lurk, both of O'Fallon and Heather Franks of Texas.

Memorial donations will be appreciated to the Humane Society or the Order of the Eastern Star, and can be mailed to Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, IL 62269. Condolences may be posted at www.wfh-ofallon.com .

A Graveside Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Shiloh Cemetery with Pastor Ken Hutchens officiating.
