Obituary
Joan E. Bye (nee Perschbacher), age 66, of Shiloh, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at her home. Joan was born February 24, 1940, in Shiloh, Illinois to Arnold & Ida (nee Rasp) Perschbacher.
Joan graduated from O'Fallon Twp. High School in 1958 and worked at St. John's Orphanage in the 1960s, when she met her future husband, Gary. She was a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years when her daughters were younger and formerly worked as a cook and crossing guard for Shiloh Grade School. Mrs. Bye worked in O'Fallon School District 90 as a before- and after-school caregiver for children at Estelle Kampmeyer School until November 2006. She enjoyed sewing and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh, where she was baptized, married, and participated in the St. Ann Altar Sodality.
She is survived by her husband Gary L. Bye whom she married June 14, 1961; sons Keith Bye of Shiloh and David (Susan) Bye of Jacksonville, IL; daughters Julie (Greg) Meyer of Jacksonville, IL; Karen Bye of Shiloh, and Jeanette Bye of Shiloh; grandchildren Alex and Jill Meyer, and Sarah and Joseph Bye; brother Larry Perschbacher of Shiloh; father-in-law Kenneth Bye of Spokane, WA; aunt Alice Rasp of O'Fallon, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Nancy Perschbacher.
Memorial Donations in honor of Mrs. Bye may be made to American Cancer Society or Corpus Christi Church Building Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 and after 9:00 am, Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Procession will depart Wolfersberger Funeral Home at 9:40 am, for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, with Rev. Msgr. Carl Scherrer presiding.
Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois. with a luncheon to follow at the Corpus Christi Parish Center.
