John D. DeWitt, age 81, born March 14, 1927 in East St. Louis, died Friday November 21, 2008 in Highland, Ill.
John worked as a truck driver for Campbell 66 Express in St. Louis, retiring in 1983.
John was preceded in death by a former spouse Verna Lee and a daughter Paula Baker.
He is survived by five children, Marylee (William Joseph) Gream of Kansas City, Mo.; John Michael (Millie) DeWitt of Ullin, Ill.; Cheryl (Dave) Witt of Shiloh; Mary (Jim) Ping of Highland, Ill.; and John D. (fiance Kim Butler) DeWitt II of Fairview Heights, Ill.; grandchildren Tammy Gream, Judy Case, John Gream, Christy Black, John Glenn DeWitt, Jason DeWitt, Justin DeWitt, Kenny Wright, David Wright, Tim Baker, Theresa Pitts, Dave Witt Jr., James Ping II, Robin Butler, Samantha Ann DeWitt; 18 great- grandchildren; former spouse Judith Ann DeWitt of Carlyle, Ill.; and step-brother Lloyd Candler of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Keppler's Cemetery in O'Fallon Township.
