John Andrew Rhodes, age 62, born August 16, 1958 in Belleville, Ill., died January 6, 2021 at home in Shiloh, Ill. As an infant, John was adopted by William and Anna Mae Rhodes. After William's death, Anna married Melvin Stoll, and together Mel and Ann provided a loving home and upbringing for John.

He was a graduate of O'Fallon Township High School and attended Belleville Area College. He was formerly married to Deborah Whistlar, and they had a son, George. He later married Lori Ann Patel in Las Vegas, Nev. Together, they enjoyed watching auto racing and following their favorite drivers. John also liked riding motorcycles. He was a member of the O'Fallon Moose.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Louisa Wilkaitis, and Hiram and Edith Rhodes; his fathers William Rhodes (who died when John was three); and Melvin Stoll (who was instrumental in his upbringing); aunts and uncles Clara Schmidt, Marcella Bloemker, and Norman and George Wilkaitis; cousins Mary Ellen Varble and Laura Bloemker; and his beloved dog Ruby.

He is survived by his wife Lori Ann Rhodes; his son George (Tracy) Rhodes; his mother Anna Mae Stoll; aunt Jeanette Wilkaitis; grandchildren Madison, Loralai and Everly Rhodes; dear friends Mark and Tracy Lewis; and several cousins and extended family members. Special thanks to friends and neighbors Cassandra Myers and Carlos Canter for their kindness, help, and support.
