John Henry Sexauer, Jr., age 91, O'Fallon, IL, born August 20, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, to John Henry Sexauer & Pauline Sexauer, died Sunday May 22, 2022 of a heart attack.

He graduated from Harris Teachers College (Harris Stowe) & earned his Masters degree from Northeast Missouri State (Truman). He was committed to public education, serving in the Ferguson-Florissant School District 1956-1988 as Elementary School Teacher & Principal at Griffith, DeSmet & Lee Hamilton Schools. He was a US Army veteran, serving 1954-56 as Secretary to a Brigadier General.

John demonstrated love every day while caring for Lois Sexauer, the love of his life & wife for 64 years. Despite his tremendous heartbreak of losing Lois two days prior to his own death, his positive attitude had him looking forward to the future. Extremely talented with attention to detail, his hobbies included stained glass, designing impressive doll houses for the grandchildren, antiques/collectibles, flowers, reading and supporting Lois in her many leadership roles. At age 91, he was sharp offering spot-on insight to his sons when asked for his opinion.  He & Lois traveled the world & are now reunited in Heaven.

Proceeded in death by his parents John & Pauline; his wife Lois Ann (nee Driscoll) Sexauer & his brother Richard Sexauer.

Survived by his sons David (Sharon), Alan (Michelle) & Steven (Patti); grandchildren  Amy, Jessica (Alex), Ryan, Emily, Laura (Dan) Paulsell, Andrew (Crystal), Lauren & John "Jack." Also surviving are great grandchildren Gyn, Kennedy & Andrew Jr.; sister Adrienne (Cliff) Fairbanks, sister-in-law Brenda; & many loving relatives.

Memorial donations are suggested to the O'Fallon UCC Special Music Fund.  In keeping with his generous spirit, John chose to donate his body for medical research.

Memorial Visitation will begin at 11:30 am, Sunday, June 12, 2022, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 pm at the United Church of Christ, 206 W. Adams St,  O'Fallon, IL, with Rev. Dr. Martha L. Thierheimer officiating.
