Obituary

Jonathon Gary Haselhorst, age 42, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and loyal friend, passed away on the morning of July 9, 2023.

Jon was currently employed as a security systems engineer with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Growing up in O'Fallon, he attended St. Clare Grade School and graduated OTHS Class of '99, while finishing his bachelor's degree from SIUE. Jon was a standout athlete and avid sports fanatic. As a youngster, he played select baseball and soccer, focusing on soccer through college and into recent years in the "Over 40" league; eventually becoming a respected coach. Jon loved coaching his own children along with many other aspiring "soccer studs" with Metro Alliance FC. Jon enjoyed the energy of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, the smooth jams of The Dave Matthews Band, "Da Bears", the "ups" and "downs" of our beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and most recently, the St. Louis City Soccer Club. Jon was a devoted husband and father. Jon was either messing with BUDE, running the kids to and from their events, coaching or cheering them from the sideline, or recording his most beautiful dancer. One of his favorite moments was just the 5 of them hanging in their pool, watching movies, or family game night together. Jon also enjoyed family camping trips, smoking meat for everyone, cracking jokes, playing fantasy football/baseball with the guys, placing bets on ALL THE SPORTING EVENTS, and pulling pranks on many friends (especially his Mom). Many family and friends relied on him for his sound advice, logical thinking, and his patience and kindness. His absence will be felt immensely by his family, friends, and his teams.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Loretta Gregorich, Robert and Mary Haselhorst, several aunts and uncles including his Godfather Uncle Chris Gregorich, and two very special friends Tommy Heffner and Amy Feist.

Surviving are his wife Angela, nee Smith, Haselhorst of O'Fallon, whom he married June 19, 2010; his children Belle Loretta, Rose Catherine, and August "Gus" William; his parents Gary and Peggy Haselhorst; brother Jason Haselhorst; sister Jen (Micah) Derickson; nieces and nephews Dominic, Audrey, Christopher, Hunter, Cambria, and Taegan; father-in-law William (Dawn) Smith; mother-in-law Penny (Tom) Ritzel; siblings-in-law Darla (James) Poston, Brian (Sylvia) Olsen, Candice Smith and many nieces, nephews, and extended members of the Smith family. Also surviving are many cousins, including special cousin Bryan Gregorich; his lifelong friends, schoolmates, and teammates, known as the "O'Fallon Boys" and the "Belleville Boys."

Online condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com. Memorial donations are suggested to the Haselhorst family, for the benefit of Jon's children.
