Joseph Anthony Sabin, Colonel, USAF, retired, age 79, of O'Fallon, born July 15, 1939 in New York City, passed away July 28, 2018 following a brief illness.

Joe joined the Air Force in 1963, and met his future wife, Sandra, at McGuire AFB, New Jersey, where they married on September 17, 1966. He earned his BS in Pharmacology at Fordham University, and an MBA at Central Michigan University, and another at Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Although he joined the Air Force intending to further his career in  Pharmacy, he quickly trained and became efficient in logistics. He was the former Director of Maintenance at Dover AFB, and retired in 1988 as Director of Logistics at Scott AFB. He was a Vietnam veteran and his decorations include the Legion of Merit and The Bronze Star. He continued to work as a systems analyst for various defense contractors. In addition to his military career, he was a part-time pharmacist, most recently working at The Medicine Shoppe in Columbia and O'Fallon. He enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Sarasota, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The St. Louis Fisher House or Siteman Cancer Center.

He was preceded in death by parents José and Nieves, nee Perez, Sabin.

Surviving are his wife Sandra Lynne, nee Strauss, Sabin, of O'Fallon; his daughters Lisa (Eric) Nolte of Parker, Colo., and Michelle (significant other Russ Farr) Sabin of O'Fallon; granddaughters Emily and Grace Nolte; and his brother Richard (Kathleen) Sabin of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; brother-in-law David (Diane) Strauss of Ewing, N.J., and nieces and nephews.

Funeral:  9:30 am, Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
