Marilynn "Joy" Mainwaring, nee Shelden, age 76, of Lebanon, Ill., born August 20, 1940 in Chicago, Ill., passed away August 4, 2017 at Cedar Ridge Health & Rehab, Lebanon.

Joy grew up in central Illinois. As an adult, she devoted her life to teaching children. She held various teaching positions at preschools and day cares. Pastor Joy was a faithful member of New Life in Christ Church, where she was an Elder and was instrumental in the Little Angels Child Development Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bion and Laverne, nee Blosky, Shelden;  three sons Billy, Jimmy, and Joseph Mainwaring; her former husband William H. Mainwaring, and her great-granddaughter Savannah Mainwaring.

Surviving are her sons Richard (Linda) Mainwaring of Springfield, Ill., and Steve (Tammy) Mainwaring of Farmersville, Ill., brother Billy Shelden of Chicago; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations are suggested to New Life in Christ Church.

Funeral: A memorial Service will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at New Life in Christ Church, 689 Scott-Troy Rd., O'Fallon, with Bishop Geoffrey V. Dudley, Sr., officiating.
