Obituary

Judith Marie Petruska, nee Sauer, age 67, of Lebanon, born November 1, 1942 in Chicago, passed away Thursday morning, November 26, 2009.

Judith lived in the Chicago area most of her life and spent 30 of those years in Calumet City, Ill. She was a working mother of one who earned her associates degree in accounting and spent most of her career as a financial account executive. She started her career with Price Waterhouse, then moved to FMC Corp, and eventually retired from Crossland Credit Corp. She moved to Lebanon, Ill. three years ago, to be near her son, David and his family. She worked locally at the "Flying J" Truck Stop near Centerville. Although she was a Chicagoan at heart she wanted to settle and retire in Alaska in Warm Springs Bay where her Grandfather Fred Bahovic had a home. She was truly a hard worker and believed that no matter what you do, you do the best job that you can at all times. She was selfless, kind-hearted and thoughtful and made many sacrifices for her friends and family at the expense of her own successes. She was truly appreciative of the little things in life, and made sure that everyone else was taken care of first. Judy was more lovingly known as "Ma" and "Nana" as she was "Ma" to so many of David's friends growing up and welcomed everyone in as if they were her own. She was a proud military daughter of a World War II veteran and a proud military mom of an Air Force Veteran. She was also rarely seen without her "baby," Sandy (her dog), by her side. She was a wonderful "Nana" to her only granddaughter Kaylie, and a very dear and loving daughter, sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, "Auntie Judy" and friend. She was a joy to be around and a positive light to so many. We love you, Ma, you will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Louise, nee Bahovic, Sauer.

Ms. Petruska is survived by her son David (Shelly) Petruska of O'Fallon, Ill., granddaughter Kaylie Petruska, brother Leslie (Jan) Sauer and their daughters, Angela (John) Dorzok, and Barb and Jen Feiereisen, all of Wisconsin; sister Sharon Briones and her son Jim (Judy) Funicello, of Indiana; great nephew Tristen and great niece Jamie.

Memorial donations in honor of Ms. Petruska are suggested to American Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
