Juanita "June" McGeehon was born in Noble, Ill. on March 11, 1943, and died on June 13, 2012 at the age of 69. June walked through this world in a loving and graceful manner, and she left us in the same way.
June was loved by all. Her smile brightened any room, and she always had a kind word and optimistic attitude that lifted spirits and made everyone in her presence feel special. She lived a life of service, giving over 30 years of her professional career to the Shrine of Our Lady of The Snows. Starting out in the business office in the 80s, June retired in June of 2011 as Pastoral Administrative Assistant. She also spent countless hours volunteering at the Shrine, as well as through her church, St. Nicholas Catholic Church in O'Fallon. At St. Nicholas, June served on the Board and was also a member of Yesterday's Kids. June's commitment to her community and faith drove her to give of herself each and every day. She was a role model for all.
Drawing on her good German roots, June was also known for her incredible strength and feistiness. Despite battling lupus for over half her life, she balanced multiple work and volunteer commitments, raised two happy and successful children and always made time to advance her own learning by completing her Associates Degree at Saint Louis University. June was in constant motion to realize her big dreams and help those around her achieve their best.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Sue Bricker; parents, Georgiana and Henry Kuenstler; and sister, Lou Ann Dallmier.
She gained strength from her loving family including husband, William (Bill) McGeehon; children David (Tracey) Bricker and Beth (Shawn Reifsteck) Kuenstler; grandchildren Jacob and Mitchell Bricker, and Shelly Davie, and her brothers and sisters Jim (Peg) Kuenstler, Fred (Shirley) Kuenstler, Richard (Jeanette) Kuenstler, Ruth (the late John) Bene, Dan (Maryann) Kuenstler, Karen (Tom) Zuber, and Bill (Rita) Kuenstler.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church of O'Fallon in support of the Good Shepherd Pre-school, and Fontebella Maternity Shelter (www.fontebella.org). June supported these organizations because they reflected her belief that anything is possible for our children when they are raised in a caring and supportive environment, and given the opportunity to explore life to its fullest.
