June Marie Phares, age 79, formerly of Springfield, Ill., died Monday morning, May 17, 2021, at Cedar Ridge Nursing & Rehab, Lebanon, Ill.

June was born in Carlinville, Ill., and spent most of her life in Springfield. She had worked as an admission clerk at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed her ice cream, and loved spending time with her family and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary, nee Kalaher, Woods; and her son Jimmy, and sister Shirley Pekar.

Surviving are her daughters Judy (Darrell) Boyleston of S.C., Joyce (Dave) Gaston of Tenn., Jean (Roger) Nesch of O'Fallon, and Shauna Phares of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, 13 (plus one on the way) great-grandchildren; and siblings Betty Clark, George Woods, and Kathy Tomlinson.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 3 pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Darrell Boyleston officiating.
