June Marie Wagner, nee Tribout, of Waterloo, Ill. (formerly of O'Fallon, Ill.) passed away January 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 20th, 1935 in Bond County, Ill. She loved life and was always ready to meet new people. She attended six different grade schools in the first eight years of schooling, including Pocahontas and Decatur, Ill., San Bernardino, Calif., Belleville, Ill. and finished at St. Clare School in O'Fallon, Ill. June met her beloved husband on a blind date while attending OTHS in O'Fallon, Ill. They eloped and were married on June 24, 1951. They later repeated their vows before Father John Goelz at St. Clare Catholic Church.
June and her husband retired from their local Shoe Cellar business in 1982. June joined St. Clair County Home and Community Education in 1985 and served on the St. Clair County HCE board for 6 years. As public relations chairman, she published their newsletter, The Chitter Chatter. She enjoyed making crafts and was involved with Little Dresses for Africa. In addition, she helped make quilts and stuffed animals for hospitalized children.
June was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Edna (Pacatte) Tribout, mother-in-law Irene (Bruss) Wagner and father-in-law Clarence Wagner, son-in-law, James Riebold and niece, Rebecca Tribout.
She is survived by her wonderful husband Leroy Wagner of 66 years. He was her best friend and the kindest person she has ever known. She is also survived by her children Bridgid Riebold, Lynn (Gary) Welzbacher, Mark (Judy) Wagner, Jeffrey (Linda) Wagner, Matthew (Maria) Wagner, all from O'Fallon, Ill., her 12 grandchildren, Lauren Riebold, Leigh-Anne Riebold (fiance George Schaefer), Lindsay (Sam) Loring, Brian (Amy) Welzbacher, Jonathan (Liz) Welzbacher, Scott Welzbacher, Stacey (Ben) Keller, Christen (Scott) Hebl, Troy (Priscilla) Wagner, Anna Wagner, Paul Cleary (fiance Laura Hackstadt), Kayla (Adam) Melanson and thirteen wonderful great-grandchildren, her brother Lester (Eve) Tribout of Rockledge, Fla. and her sister and best friend, Lana Greene of Melbourne, Fla., two nieces Donna (Marc) Buist, Angele (R.B.) Tewksbury, and many good friends and cousins.
June's wishes are for cremation, a Mass of Christian burial, and a Celebration of Life. The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent, but that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals or St. Jude Hospitals.
Funeral: A mass officiated by Rev. William Hitpas will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 27, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh, Ill. Luncheon to follow at the Corpus Christi Parish Hall.
