Kenneth George Schmidt age 80, formerly of O'Fallon, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, November 27, 2006 at his home in Breese. Kenneth was born September 8, 1926 in O'Fallon, to George and Mae (nee Jacquot) Schmidt. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a coal miner at St Ellen Mine and later as a dock hand for a commercial trucking company. Mr. Schmidt was a former member of O'Fallon United Church of Christ, a member of AF & AM #576, life member of O'Fallon VFW Post #805 and two-time past-commander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter Lynne Marie Schmidt.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores "Jean" Schmidt (nee Higgins), of Breese, whom he married January 9, 1949 at O'Fallon United Church of Christ; his son, Steven Kenneth (Marilyn) Schmidt of Breese; brother Robert (Patricia) Schmidt) of Belleville, sisters Dorothy (Norris) Beckman of O'Fallon, and Betty (Roland) Shull of O'Fallon; sister-in-law, Evelyn Higgins of Edwardsville and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Service: Masonic Service will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel, with Larry Veale, Chaplain, O'Fallon Fire Department, officiating.

Interment will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery.

Memorial Donations are requested to either St Louis Childrens' Hospital Neonatal Unit, in honor of his granddaughter Lynne Marie, or to the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #576. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
