Lee Theodore Rasp, age 83, born January 14, 1927 in Shiloh Valley, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.
Lee was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 86th Searchlight Engineer Company. He was a member of St. Clair County Farm Bureau, and St. Nicholas Catholic Church's Yesterday's Kids. He was a lifelong O'Fallon farmer and vegetable gardener, actively farming until 3 years ago. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his world.
He was preceded in death by parents Albert and Mary, nee Hildenbrand, Rasp, brother Roy Rasp and sister Edna Wisnasky
Mr. Rasp is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lucille, nee Louis, Rasp, whom he married November 14, 1953; his daughters Rita (Stan) Kramkowski of Swansea, Doris (Jerry) Obernuefemann of O'Fallon; six grandchildren Amanda (B.J.) Benyr of Swansea, Brad (Katie) Kramkowski of Swansea, Christina Kramkowski of Belleville, Scott (Brie) Obernuefemann of O'Fallon, Sarah Obernuefemann of Kansas City, Mo., and Jessica Obernuefemann of O'Fallon; four great-grandchildren Braden and Maia Benyr and Tommy and Addison Kramkowski; and his sister Meta Gain of Belleville.
Memorial Donations in honor of Mr. Rasp are suggested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm. Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk-through service at 6:00 pm. Visitation will also be from 9:00 – 10:00 am, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein, presiding. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
