Leona M. Ahring, nee Mueth, age 90, of O'Fallon, born September 8, 1928 in Paderborn, Ill., died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Paul Senior Community, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Ahring worked at Selmor Garment Company. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister, and participated in baptismal preparation, funeral luncheons, St. Nicholas Ladies, and Yesterday's Kids.  She was also a retreat leader at King's House for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Ahring, whom she married November 15, 1947; her parents John and Matilda, nee Schaefer, Mueth; her infant daughter Debra; and siblings Cleola  (Bud) Miller, Clara (Artie) Steppig, Louis (Pearl) Mueth; grandson Michael Goodman and great-granddaughter Peyton Goodman.

Surviving are her children Patricia (Kenneth) Harbaugh of Red Bud, Gary (Rebecca) Ahring of O'Fallon, Robert (Linda) Ahring of O'Fallon, and Kathy (William) Goodman of Lebanon; grandchildren Kenny (Donna) Harbaugh, Rich (Danielle) Harbaugh, Rob (Lori) Harbaugh, Angie Meddows, Danielle Thorstensen, Laurie (Terry) MacCauley, Jamie (Lloyd) Turner, Jennifer (Tim) Evans, Willie (Melissa) Goodman, Joe Goodman, and Bethany (Kyle) Butters; great-grandchildren: Taylor, MaKenzie, Claire, Jacob and Renee Harbaugh, Ashley Thorstensen, Kylie Meddows, Courtney, Whitney and Mandey Jackson, Ryan and Nicholas Turner, Timothy, Daniel, Brian, and Louis Evans, William Goodman, Noa and Hailey Butters, and Riley and Reagan MacCauley; and great-great grandchildren Jaxon Paul and Emilia Kronenberger; and her sister-in-law Mildred (the late Edward) Kimmle, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations in memory of Leona Ahring to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or as Masses.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon, and again after 11:00 am, Friday, October 19, 2018 at the church. Yesterday's Kids will conduct a walk-through at 11:15 am, Friday, at the church.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon, Friday, October 19, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
